Mass mailing offering precision safety tune-up for air conditioner at half-price when scheduled by a certain date. I had previously received offers for inspections of equipment, which I don't use. The repair person came and I followed him to the basement. He started putting big green stickers on things he shouldn't even be touching. I finally asked what a precision tune-up includes. He said he had never heard the term used before! He was there for an inspection. I produced the postcard and he told me he would bring it up at the next meeting. I paid the $79, knowing a mechanics lien on my property would leave me in a defendant position rather than that of a plaintiff position. I reported to the BBB and they ignored it. I reported it to the United States Postal Service - but if they don't receive other reports, this will go no place. Now, I plan to take it to small claims court unless the local State Attorney wants to file charges of fraud. Most people wouldn't follow this person to the basement. I will also say it was a cool early-summer period and I didn't have A/C on nor did I have the furnace on. The "repairman" didn't even turn the system on!
