On June 27, I bought grocery from this merchant that included a bag of rice which cost around $33. Later I discovered that the rice was full of bugs. On July 11, I went to the shop and asked for an exchange. I asked her to pull the transaction from her system using the credit card I had. She refused. I left the rice bag at the counter and started to leave. As I was stepping out, she asked to talk to her “bossâ€.
The “boss†said rudely he wouldn’t take back an open item! He added he wouldn’t take anything back without receipt refused to use my credit card for look up. I left the rice bag at counter and started to step out. He shouted from behind and asked me to take the rice with me. Then he commented he didn’t know where I brought the rice from! I started arguing with him about the way he treats his customers. He rushed out of his counter toward me and said how dare I talk with him like that while standing on his property! Another person started to push me out. I asked him not to push me. He did not stop pushing me and once we were outside his shop, he said I had no idea what kind of harm they could inflict on me! He abused me and the other person joined him. They aloes said that I probably used a “stolen credit card†for the purchase or was trying to return “stolen riceâ€! Then a third person came and threatened me that if I spoke one more word he would assault me.
I called 911 and while I was calling 911, they threatened that if I called police, they would get me “locked up†as they had “connections†in the police.
Then I noticed that my wife, who was holding our baby, was on the verge of tears as she was witnessing everything and feared assault. I decided to take them home.
The following day I went to the Edison police station to file a complaint. The police suggested that as I wasn’t assaulted, the matter could just be a he-said-she-said issue. However, he said that threat of assault could be a basis of complaint but advised to take the matter with the BBB first.
