We bought a new 9.4 ghz phone from Cirtuit City in April. We had just moved and threw away the box, but kept our receipt. The phone was scratchy and cut in and out while talking. We took it back in an attempt to get our money back. They would not refund withouth original packaging and manual, and would only exchange, but insisted on keeping the packaging of the phone they gave us, which was the same model phone we had purchased.
It again, had the same problems, poor reception, scratchy. We returned to the store with packaging from trash, but were told "no refund" because we didn't have the "manual".
We contacted their home office by e-mail and phone and were told repeatedly that someone from the local store management would contact us, they never did.
I contact GE, the manufacturer for a manual, but they don't furnish one since its available online.
Several weeks had passed and our 30 day return time frame was nearing an end. I ended up printing a manual from the online GE site (which was PDF and very small printed out), folding it up, and cramming it in the box along with all the packaging.
I told my husband that we would probably get "lucky" and find an employee who either wasn't real sharp, or didn't care, and would give us a refund.
It finally worked, and when the girl asked about the manual, I pointed it out, deep in the box tucked away.
We took our money and ran, and have never returned to Circuit City, and NEVER will again!
