"Switch and Bait" ripoff rude salespeople lie about shipping

My experience with this company represents almost everything that is considered the worst of poor business ethics. On December 20th, I selected Cambridge Camera as the retailer of choice based on the content of their website which indicated that everything I needed was available from one retailer. I called the 1-800 number to inquire about the availability of a Canon D30 digital camera & accessories and an Asian rudely informed me that I had to call the regular number if I had questions and hung up.

I proceeded to call the regular number 5 times in the course of two days (have phone bill to verify). Each time I was place on hold repeatedly, whereas no questions were answered or addressed, sometimes the hold times were lengthy. Each time a very rude Asian man answered. He would lay the phone down and I could hear him yelling at customers. I should of abandoned my effort at that point, but being the Christmas season, I was trying to be patient. Finally I gave up and placed an order online through their encrypted shopping cart on Dec. 22 with detailed comments in the comments box attached to the order.

A man named Jim called on the 23rd who sounded Caucasian and reasonably nice. He called to go over the order, but was not given any of the comments I had included with the order, thus I had to go over all the questions and comments again. During the order, he insisted on exchanging lenses models for more expensive ones warranted in the US verses Japan. Of course, none of this information was detailed on the website. It was a typical Bait and Switch scheme that unethical businesses have performed for years. I conceded, needing the camera for a project coming up on January 11. There was no time to investigate other retailers or selling practices. He confirmed the order and stated that I could expect the product in 5 to 7 days UPS ground, which targeted the delivery around January 2nd keeping the holidays in mind. On January 3rd, I called inquiring about by delinquent order and the same Asian responded that it was in route and should be arriving shortly. On January 9th, I again called stressing the need of the camera for a project. The same Asian responded that the camera had just shipped, but couldn't confirm anything because the computers were not working right. He said he would call back, but never did. My second attempted was only greeted by a I told you I would call back later. Still he never did.

At this juncture, I suspect that the order may never be completed correctly and if I do receive it, based on the company disorder and lies, it probably will be incorrect. I am seeking to place the order with a reputable vendor and will return anything this pathetic company may send. As a result of this of this delay, I have lost a high-paying client and am considering punitive damages through my attorney - awaiting his response.

Summary: The customer service agents are rude and not detailed. The website deliberately misrepresents items on the website to use Bait and Switch techniques. They lie about shipping and delivery schedules. They charged my credit cards weeks before shipping items which have never arrived.

Do not buy from this company for any reason!
