They refused to honor the warranty, read information into it that is not in evidence in the warranty

I purchased a Magnavox HDD&DVD player MDR515H/F7 9 months ago.in November our power switched on and off, a regular occurrance here. The DVD player did not work after this. When I called the customer service of Magnavox/Funai telling them it had quit after our power switched off and on, they told me that a power interruption voided the warranty. They called this "an act of God".

The weather was clear, no lightening or other natural phenomenon and certainly had nothing to do with God, just the power company. Additionally it was plugged into a surge protector with a TV which continues to function perfectly. The The warranty on this product is not worth the paper it is written on. I was SO glad I had purchased WalMart additional warranty.

I had it repaired through Walmart's plan with little hassle other than mailing it off. Two months later, the same thing occurred again. And of course they denied all culpability again. There is obviously a weak electronic design as a power disconnect should not cause this and no other electric items in the house were affected in any way. I have owned many Magnavox products over the years and have generally been impressed with their function and longevity. Since Funai is now controlling the company, I will likely never purchase another of their products.
