I got a call today from these people offering a computer, a cell phone and a camcorder, all for the price of $284.90, which they said covered shipping & handling. Of course they needed my banking info.
I stupidly agreed but all the while questioning how they selected me at random and why they could not confirm this by mail. I was told that they used to confirm by mail, but they lost "millions" because people would throw the letters out.
The merchandise was all last years models so they were a clearing house for major electronics firms to dump their products. I gave in, we all want something for nothing I guess.
When a pre-recorded tape came on at the end, i was informed that they were changing my telephone service to "Unicom". Having been slammed in the past, I knew it was a fraud. I cancelled the check, but my bank says that won't protect me. I called the phone company to put a freeze.
I called CETS and they said they would cancel my order. Somehow I do not think this is the end of them. I am following up with my local CPS people and will make a complaint with the FTC.
These people are creeps.
