I purchased a brand new x box 360 from Best Buy 3 years ago, bought all games brand new, none used. Console never modified. My online behavior is great, I don't cuss and swear at people, i like to play with friends from school and mute anyone coming in swearing.
All the games are purchased brand new in the wrapper from EB Games in Red Deer, Alberta. THey worked fine, never had a problem till recent update from Microsoft XBOX live that flagged my console and banned it.
Then I had to contact customer service at XBOX live they directed me to a web blog site for MS which is only available from the USA not Canada. Every time I have called XBOX live I am place on hold, recording says there is nothing they can do about it, I must have violated terms of service or did something bad.
After 2 weeks still no resolution. I took it upon myself to attempt contacting MS on my own rather than XBOX Live, called the head office of MS in Ontario for Canada, called main number, asked to speak to a MS rep. I spoke to a lady she said they only deal with MS software issues, that they have nothing to do with XBOX Live, she basically tried to give me the company line. I demanded to speak to someone at MS, she redirected my call to MS customer support in Seattle, WA. A supervisor there, said he only dealt with MS software, nothing to do with XBOX Live. I told him I have had nothing but runaround with XBOX Live, multiple stories, none of it adds up.
He put me through to a supervisor with XBOX Live in Seattle. Then talked to that rep, he said I did something wrong. I explained to him that the download update froze halfway through the download. I was accused of more wrongdoing and using pirated software, bad code of conduct, etc. I again explained that I have not violated any code of conduct or done anything wrong, I explained agang that there was a problem with the download update. They still didn't care of do anything.
This rep then asked me if I am playing burned games? I told him I don't do that. Then he asked where I get my games and I said EB Games. He asked what game and I explained to him Halo ODST, he said that Halo and the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 are both burned (pirated) games sold by EB as new games. He then explained that this is the reason my console is banned. He said that I was supposed to be reinstated, it has never happened. I have not been unbanned and have been promptly ignored.
I am suspicious that there is some sort of proprietary disagreement between MS XBOX 360 and EB Games. I am also suspicious that this a new bait and switch tactic from MS due to falling sales nation wide against PS3, ie, I was only half way through subscription now it is almost over. This has happened to several friends of mine and relatives, same thing has happened, run around, run around, and you get a console ban playing legit games.
The people in the call center said they are in the Philippines, I asked them if they have a XBOX there to help me with my problems and they said no. I plan to purchase a PS3 and will never purchase MS products again. I have never pirated and always bought brand new games. Always new.
I feel that I have been ripped off by Microsoft.
