I tried to buy a Kingston 16GB "Go Green" DataTraveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive today — Smart Subs had the lowest price on Shopzilla.
After entering all my data — name, address, credit card number, etc. I kept getting error messages that my zip code was wrong or my credit card number was wrong, even though the information was all correct. After many tries I finally got to a page which told me I didn't qualify for their required add-on 30-day trial subscription to Real Broadband Essentials.
I was then offered 2 other such items — eMusic and Netflix. I checked eMusic and was again rejected.
I called and spoke to a rep who told me that I must already be in the files of Real and eMusic (though I never used eMusic) thus I wasn't able to buy the item they have listed in the search engines.
Nowhere in the search engine results is there anything about having to "qualify" in order to make a purchase.
This is a classic version of "bait and switch" — they should be prosecuted for deceptive advertising.
