I have had DirecTV since December. That same month, they sent me a REPLACEMENT receiver for one that had stopped working, and on the very day it arrived, DirecTV renewed my contract for two more years. I went through their Customer Agreement, the terms for the protection plan I subscribe to, and the Equipment Lease Addendum. They state clearly that getting an ADDITIONAL receiver automatically renews the agreement for two years, but they say nothing about a REPLACEMENT receiver.
In my view, an additional receiver means one more unit added to my account and billed as such. My billing did not change, and I still have just four receivers. So the end date of my customer agreement should NOT have been renewed. I am waiting for a reply from DirecTV, and if they do not reverse the automatic renewal, I will take legal action.
