I ordered a new Cannon digital camera (AS1000IS) on December 8. I personally searched out various reviews of the camera and found out that it was one of the best models available within its' price range.
After doing this, I searched for possible vendors to purchase the camera from. 86 Photo & Video came up as the best price for the camera. As a result, I ordered the camera with the intention of being able to use it during the Christmas holiday season.
Within a day, I recieved a call from the company asking me if I had realized that I had not purchased a memory card and other items that they would recommned for use with this camera. I explained that I have these items already and simply needed to get the camera. Roughly one week prior to the Holiday break, I contacted 86 Photo & Video to check up on the delivery status of the camera. At that time I was told that the camera was currently out-of-stock and that it should be shipped within 3-4 weeks.
I recently (1/28) contacted 86 Photo & Video to check on the camera delivery once again. This time, I was simply told that the camera was not avaialble and that they would cancel the order. I inquired about "why" the cameras was not avaiable (as I had recently seen it in a number of local retail outlets) and was told that they no longer carried the camera. The company representative again stated that the camera was no longer available and that my order would be cancelled and hung up.
I would personally recommend that any consumer avoid doing business with this company at all costs. My initial effort to purchase the desired camera was based on being able to get the camera for the least expensive price. Unfortunately, this decision turned out to be a terrible one. I missed out on opportunites to gain valuable pictures of events (Christmas, school events, and a sporting banquet) that I will never be able to get back. To me, it almost seemed as if they did not want to fullfil the order as a result of not being able to sell additional add-on items as part of the sale. Please avoid this company at all costs if you don't want to ultimately be frustrated due to their poor commitment to customer service and standing behind what they promote.
