Top Cat Appliance
Awful company

My two year old washer stopped working, went online and found this companies website. It looked reputable and I called them. Spoke with Delayne Hiott who seemed to be a nice enough guy. I explained that the washer was about two years old and told him the problem I was having and that I was in a bind as I had family coming.

I also told him that given it was a couple of years old, I didn't want to even bother having him come out if it was going to cost more then a new washer would cost. He explained it might be a quick fix and the initial charge would be $65 for the diagnostic test and and to come out to my condo. I scheduled the call and the next day an independent contractor showed up and literally in five minutes, told me what was wrong and it was a tiny plastic pump that needed to be replaced.

The sales man then went into the whole used car sales approach and told me that it was going to be $195 to fix the problem. I then expressed an issue with the price and he gave me the old 'used car' line and said let me call the boss and came back five minutes later and said that he must be in a good mood because he said he could do it for $185. I then went and called the owner directly and asked why he was trying to overcharge me as I went in the other room and found the pump online for $30.00 and it was going to take literally five minutes to fix and I already was being charged $65 for the visit.

He then became an instant asshole and told me that someone needed to pay for his advertising, etc. I said thats nice, and how you treat customers and how can you suggest that my initial $65 for the five minutes your guy has been here doesn't buy me any time for him to fix the problem and he again said, no, im sorry but you have to pay for my advertising, trucks etc and hung up on me. I went inside and told the guy to stop and he then told me that for him to do that, he would need to put the old pump back on and that might cause flooding since the washer was full.

I ended up paying $195 for a part and repair that took a total of ten minutes from when he got here and left and the part itself is online for $30-$40 total. I even called other shops AFTER the fact and they all were way less expensive by at least $50. I was taken by an unscrupulous business owner that took advantage of my need to have it done ASAP. I have no issue with a mark up but not when its marked up 400%. I only wanted a fair price and to be treated like I would treat a customer or client.

I also see he has a horrible rating on the BBB. Please beware and stay away from this WHITE TRASH. His stupid ads are everywhere around town. Hey Dewayne, if I looked like you did, I certainly wouldn't be plastering my face around town in an ad for my company.
