Akai Usa
Worthless warranty infuriates disabled consume

I contacted Akai Usa in September about my tv/dvd combo television via the phone number on their website which is now insisting on email instead of actually speaking to someone..

They took my information over the phone and had a local repair shop pick up my television for it to be repaired. The tv was picked up on 9/24/08. The tv was in warranty originally purchased Nov 15. And was supposed to be repaired or replaced free of charge. I faxed to Akai the receipt for the tv purchase on Sept 12 and then was told via telephone the shop that was designated to fix the tv-The repair shop they designated was D and G electronics 1141 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, Illinois {847}952-9550.

I then had to contact the repair shop as they never bothered to contact me in reference to repairing my tv. Finally they picked it up on Sept 24th.
The repair shop told me to call to check on tv and said it would be done in 7-10 days.

When I called on the 11th day they said it would be done in 3 days. They have been telling me this for over two weeks now. When I called today, they said that the part that was needed Akai no longer makes supposedly it had a power problem and then they claim it was the main board whatever that means but I am tired of being without my tv and they said due to this we would have to send tv to Akai so they can send a new tv or to refund my purchase price.

I cannot afford to pay shipping to send this tv back to Akai as I am on a fixed income and the repair shop is bringing the defective tv to my home tomorrow between 2 and 5 pm supposedly. I received the tv back unfixed on Oct 14th. The repair shop says i am to call Akai but how am I to do that when a human cannot be reached. I am very upset.

This was after telling me that they were waiting on the part to be shipped from Akai and that they had received the part. I have been getting nothing but a run around
MODEL LCT37Z4AD. The tv was purchased at the sams club in tarentum pa

I received an email from Benjamin and he stated they (miraculously) found the main board needed to repair my tv. The repair shop refused to pick it up til they had the part so they came on Oct 31 and took my tv back to their shop.

I got it back on Nov 7th and it worked for a total of 2 days and not even 2 full days at that. The original problem was no picture and sound. So now we have no picture, no sound and to make things even worse part of my collectible dvd set is stuck in the dumb thing. Tried to call the repair shop on Nov 11th no answer just a machine left message

I called Akai at 216-454-0866 spoke to a rep got no where asked for a supervisor got Hassaan who had the audacity to laugh at me when I was explaining what happened. I told him I want this tv replaced with a brand new comparable model and he told me that they have up to 3x to fix it before determining whether it is repairable and then it is their option if they want to replace it or not. He said even if it was replaced we would need to accept a refurbished model.

He did not acknowledge the loss of my dvd which was part of a $75 set. I asked for a refund and he told me there was no way I could have a refund so I ask to talk to his manager and someone named Don gets on the phone. So he wants me to fax more information knowing I am on a fixed income and cannot afford to rather than requesting his repair shop to fax it to them.

Still at a crossroads with no resolution so after browsing this website I got the number for the ceo Philip Asherian 818-887-0700 extension 2201 got voicemail left message still waiting to see if he calls back... Buyers beware stay away from Akai. I wish I had.
