In April I was away and my wife dutifully paid the Verizon bill, which had mysteriously increased by about $95.00. When I returned home and reviewed the bill, I noticed minutes accumulated from checking my voice mail, that put me 188 minutes over our plans 400 minutes. I attempted to review the bill at the local office, and even the manager could not explain the sudden increase. Many phone calls and many hours later the theme from customer service and others was that I was responsible for the bill, and there was nothing they could do. I would note that any bill prior and the one after did not have this billing! I refused to pay the next $95.00 bill until the previous bill was rectified. I have sent a complaint to the FCC and Public Utilities. On any Verizon billing, they clearly write that you do not have to pay a bill while in dispute. Yesterday, I recieved a collection notice from "progressive management". Surprise, Progressive is located at the SAME address as Verizon. If anyone knows a PRO BONO attorney interested in such pitbull billing tacktics, then put them in touch with me.
