Photo Dynasty had the 18 X 200mm Nikon dx vr lens for $519. When I called they talked me into a 5 yr warranty for $79 and a 72 mm filter for $99. Additional shipping for $15 and then charged my charge card for $720 (The total doesn't add up)
When the Nikon lens arrived there is a 5 yr warranty registration in the box provided by Nikon. When I called to get a reimbursement on the extra warranty they said that I had been sent the wrong lens and that I should have received the black market version that was not made as well and does not have Nikon warranty and that I should not complain. Does Nikon make different quality lenses with the same model name? Then he said that I was rich and stop complaining and that they were a small company and couldn't handle the loss of money on the warranty.
Since they were so bad about the warranty I decided to look into the filter. I called their sales line and asked about their 72mm uv filters. The web page had a glass 72 mm filter for $69.00. When I asked about the filter I was told it was one made by Mercury Optics. I asked the sales rep to compare the Bower filter that I was sent, to the Mercury ones and I was told that the Bowers was poorer quality than the Bower one.
I know that when I originally talked to the sales rep that sold me the lens and filter he told me that the filter he was sending me was comparable to a Hoya or Tiffen filter. I then asked this sales rep to forward me to the owner of the company. He said that he didn't know who the owner was and that he worked for a multi-international corporation. — So much for a small family owned company!
I tried to call customer service 3 more times and on each occasion I waited on hold for an extensive time and when the phone went from music to ringing the connection went dead. So customer service just hung up on me when they recognized my number.
Bottom line — do not buy anything from photo dynasty
