I purchased an E-Machine desktop computer tower, monitor and printer from Circuit City. Each item had an individual rebate form. All forms, receipts, UPC segments, etc., were mailed within the specified time period.
The $250.00 rebate for the tower was not provided. My calls to Young America resulted in excuses such as "my address information was incorrect", "allow more time for processing" and similar responses.
I never received the rebate and the tower eventually crashed but within the warranty period. The Circuit City sales person informed me that a direct replacement was no longer available. However, for an additional payment of approximately $300.00, I was allowed to exchange the E-Machine for a Compaq tower.
Bottom line: I lost $550.00 in the process.
Lesson learned: Forget rebates - they are false advertising. Buy the best value available at the time of purchase. Best value defined as the optimum combination of quality and cost.
