I'll admit, they're good: I'm an informed consumer, and I got ripped off. How do they do it? One is the location: you think that a cheap looking shop has cheap deals.
Wrong. They inflate the prices on the boxes to make you think you're getting a steep discount when they "bargain" with you.
If you don't believe me, just be sure to look at the sign posted high up on a beam: it says they can charge *over* MSRP; there are no refunds; they do not compete with web prices; etc.
If you start to ask good questions, they get mad at you. They'll also lie to you (for example, I was looking for *optical*, not digital, stabilization, and I had to go through a few models that they said had it before I found one that *actually* had it).
I never thought I'd say this, but the big boxes give much better service *and* at a better price.
Please, stay away!
