I had purchased four 1200 Watt New 15 Studio Monitor Speaker Acoustic Audio speakers on ebay from thedeepdiscount store, received them, and after testing the sound quality I realized quickly that they were not as advertised. After removing the front grill and woofer, I found that it was hardly as described.
I photographed the insides, the magnet structure, the construction methods, the voice coil size, the crossover and the weight of the speaker. The ad states 100 ounce double stacked magnets but it is actually a single stacked magnet that is around 25 ounces. The ad states a 4 inch voice coil when it actually is approximately 1 inch. The crossover is less than 3" X 3" and weighs only a few ounces. The cabinet is 7/16 inch OSB. The ad states a Zirconium cones which means they painted them silver. The horn driver has at best 5 ounces.
The term PRO power is HIGHLY overstated. The super lightweight metal corners and grill, the ultra light plastic handles and pole socket, the felt covering, no shipping padding, and not even gluing in the cheap lightweight plastic ports are far from PRO speakers.in its class, the worst sounding speaker I have ever heard. No where near "professional grade sound quality". Even the stated weight was 10 pounds over the actual weight.
When I called the company they immediately sent out UPS pickup tags. From the phone conversation this was not their first return on these. They have sold, and continue to sell many hundreds of these on ebay. They continue to advertise the same specifications on their website at thedeepdiscount.com. I still can't figure out why the reputable online store that sells their speakers don't look into what they are selling. If you have purchased one or these ask a musician or anyone in the music field their opinion.
