Hi, my husband and I recieved this magnavox tv as a housewarming gift in advance. We were in the process of getting our first home and a friend of the family gave us this tv still in the box brand new... We took it out and set it up but never used it... About 2 months later we started to move our things... We personally moved this tv ourselves. We wrapped it up in bubble wrap and layed it in the backseat with a seat belt... No damage at all to it. After we got unpacked we decided to see if the tv works meanwhile the lady who gave it to us was moving also clear across country... And we don't have any info on her because we lost touch in between moving and all.

Well, we turned the tv on and everything was fine... We hooked up an antennia to it because our satellite company was coming in a few days but we wanted to watch something so, we hooked up the antennia and everything was fine for a few days... Then a day before the satellite company comes and I woke up turned the tv on and noticed a huge black bar across the top part of the tv also it look like the top part is reflecting itself right under the black bar. I turned it off and back on again... Still same thing.

When the satellite company came one of the guys said that I could take it back to Walmart (that's where the lady said she bought it at it was like 90 bucks for a 20 in.) and exchange it even without a receipt and the box it came in... But I wasn't so sure so I called Walmart and the lady said I HAVE to HAVE the receipt not matter what. But I told her it was a gift from someone who lives God knows where and I can't get a receipt. She then gave me Magnavox's phone number so I called and the lady said without a receipt or proof of purchase that has a date on it she can't do ANYTHING.

I asked her so, I have no other option but to pay out of pocket to get it repaired IF it can be fix somewhere else or to buy a new tv. And of course she agreed those were my options. So, now I'm having to buy a new tv because I called around and many of them want at least 50 bucks or higher. But I will tell you this that I will NEVER buy a magnavox product nor receive one as a gift and if I do I will ask for a receipt. My God, who asks for a receipt when given a gift... I mean, what would I do around x-mas time... Just imagine. This tv is no older than 3 maybe 4 months if that... I have a philips tv that I have had for over 5 years and so far no problems with it and I paid maybe 200 bucks for it but it was at bestbuy not walmart. Guess it does matter where you get your products at.

By, the way if anyone knows how to fix the problem I am having with this TV then please by all means let me know! The tv is nice but, I can't do anything with it. It sucks... But then again that's life, I guess.
