I purchase a Voice Stream telephone July 4 at the local Sam's Club signing their one-year standard contract. The phone was stolen in Sept so I reported it to Voice Stream.
I then went out and purchase a new one at a leaser price then Voice Stream was offering and reactived it. I continued to receive a bill during this time from Voice Stream and continued to pay my account although I did not have a phone.
Now in June I receive a letter from Wireless Retail who states I owed them $300 for the disruption in my service because my phone was stolen. This contract states they can charge me for a disruption in my service to non-payment, relocation out of the network area and for lost/stolen phones.
This in incredibile that you purchase a phone and are pentalized for someone stealing it. This company is now threatening legal action if I don't pay.
I contacted Voice Stream who said it was a seperate contract and they had nothing to do with this. I contacted Wireless Retail and explained that although the phone was stolen I was continually billed during this time so evidently the service was not interrupted. However, they deny this and have threaten me with legal action if I don't pay.
Now, I wonder who this company (Wireless Retail) is, what service do they provide and how is Voice Stream and Sam's Club connected with them. They all have to be profitting from this.
Any one who can gave me advice on how to proceed with this corrupt enterprise, please email me. I cannot believe these companies solely exist to rip off us consumers.
