I bought a Targus notebook lock from circuit city on a discounted price. There were two rebates that I could have filed with the notebook lock. One of the rebates was from circuit city for $10.00. The other was from Targus for $10.00 as well. The complaint I have is about the circuit city rebate. I filled out the rebate with all requirements and mailed it on time. However, after some time, I received a letter saying that the rebate cannot be processed due to an "Invalid Purchase Price."
I spoke with their rebate center and a customer service representative said that since I had paid below their lowest price allowed (since I received a discount), I was not eligible for the rebate.
The circuit city rebate policy states that the rebate can not be processed if the item is on a promotional offer. My problem with this is that they never state what a promotional offer is. The discounted price that they received is regarded as a promotional offer but I do not know why it is regarded as one. They should clearly state what possible promotional offers are or what the term means.
Furthermore, they have now implemented a system where they automatically deny rebates if the purchase price is below a certain monetary value. However, they do not tell the consumer what that value is.
In my opinion, it is unfair for them to advertise for rebates and deny them if someone gets a discount, such as a pricematch, which is not mentioned anywhere in their rebate policy. I have posted on many forums and many others have been denied their rebates on this matter as well.
I am asking for compensation in the form of a check worth $10.00.
