Ask Company (Direct TV) to install Direct TV to my home because Charter Cable would be out of service for some time. Used my Credit Card (Discovery) given to me by Red Cross.

After long delay of approximately 4 weeks the technician came to my home. Wanted to use a metal type post to put in yard. I ask was this type pole grounded and he replied NO. I ask him why do they not ground this pole. He said they were not doing it. He also informed me there would be an additional $50 charge for this pole mounting which was NOT told to me.

I informed him that the Bogalusa Area has electrical storms and if bad weather was to come lightening could hit the pole and travel to my attic where insulation was and COULD START A FIRE and my house or anyone else's that had a pole that was not grounded would burn. I ask was there any other type and he replied a Tripod type. I again ask him would this be grounded and he replied no. I then told the gentleman to leave because I was NOT going to have anything at my house or on my house that was not grounded.

I called Direct TV the following Monday morning and asked for credit citing reason "dish was not going to be installed on my property that could cause a fire" because it would not be grounded by Direct TV. She refused to refund me my $29.95 for the dish citing "shipping". I told her the technician had a warehouse full of those things and I wanted my credit which was graciously given to me by Red Cross. She refused. Red Cross is a wonderful organization has has helped our area tremendously. This money was given to me for help.

In times such as Hurricane Katrina many people are ripped off. This is one example. I was not told or signed any contract with these people and they DID NOT SAY ANYTHING about not refunding if there was a problem. I ask to speak to the Manager and as of today no one wants to talk.

It took 8 operators and over 1 hour to ask for a $29.95 refund for something that is a fire hazard. It will take just one house to burn to prove you CANNOT install Direct TV on poles without being grounded. We victims of Katrina do not need additional tragedy such as a fire because of careless individuals mispresenting the public.
