2012 GE Hydrowave Washer Continually Fails! - Hydrowave

I've had this washer for a over a year, and it has already had to be serviced twice! Luckily it was under the 1 year manufacturers warranty, but I guess my luck has run out because it's broken again and the warranty is up. The first time it broke the agitator separated from the machine and it shredded a 180$ duvet cover. The second service appointment had to be made because the repair technician just ordered the parts and had them sent to my house, as if I know how to install washing machine parts! Also during the duvet shredding incident, the whole agitator came loose and was thrown around in the basket / tub/drum/whatever its called, and so not just the agitator needed replaced, it actually took chunks out of the plastic lining of the tub! The repairman told me this was just a little cosmetic damage, but it has snagged a couple of blouses so it's obviously more than just unpleasant to the eye. He was in such a hurry that he wasn't even going to replace the agitator, he just tightened it back on and called it fixed, until I reached down there myself and pulled with all of my womanly strength to get it up, then flipped it over, and called him on his careless repair by showing him the chunks missing from the plastic piece. He had seem this but just didn't want to bother with it. So now it is doing the same thing it did initially, just before it broke and ate bedding - it's not spinning, barely agitating, and most likely going to eat something else if i continue to use it. I selected this washer over the more expensive HE steam front loader models by Samsung and LG, because it has an agitator. I hoped it would be like the GE washer with an agitator my parents had while i was growing up, they must've owned it (trouble free) for 20 years. I just watched a video on YouTube of the hydro wave at work, and it doesn't even appear to do what a true agitator should do, it just swishes clothes back and forth like an agitator less model. FRUSTRATING! I am very aware of filling the washer properly, and I NEVER overload it, although most people make this mistake. I err on the side of caution when loading it and always have. What to do with no $ for a repairman and four baskets of laundry. Feels like déjà vu! Wish I had gone with the Samsung Powerfoam V6 i was looking at!
ONE LAST GRIPE: the agitator on my washer has these terrible plastic wings at the base of it, that have caught and torn up many a garment, i would say around 10-15 clothing items in the year I've had it.
