Crooked cheat charged early termination fee for changing our plan and the plan was not changed by me. Rip-off!

My mother's sprint phone did not work where she lived so she went to the sprint store to see what they could do. The sprint store said she needed an update of software on her phone they did the update for free but it did not work this she did twice.

On her third trip they said she needed a new phone so she bought a reconditioned phone and it did not work. They made her pay full price even though she had the insurance for phone replacement. She asked for my help, her son and I determined, with the help of a sprint rep in mall kiosk who was very helpful that she was in a dead spot due to being at the edge of sprints coverage in her area.

We decided to get new phones with another company. We went to radio shack and they told us we had two weeks until our contract was up. This we thought was unusual since we had the phones for over 3 years. We waited about 5 months to change service and when we did we were told we had terminated our contract early.

The voice on the phone told us that someone had modified our account December 26th over the automated system and this was November 6th that we cancelled our sprint. After talking to the sprint rep for a while she said it would be taken off and everything would be fine. Three weeks later we got a bill with the early termination charge on it.

Very angry I called sprint and after talking to another rep for over an hour he said that his supervisor said we had to pay. I asked to speak to her and after being on hold for about 20-25 minutes she finally pick up the phone.

I explained to her that my mom is 77 and does not know how to use the automated system and how we have had problems, of which I explained in detail to her, with sprint for over a year now and neither one of us would ever re-up or modify our service an neither has. Her argument was that somebody changed our service so we had to pay.

I asked several times could she verify who, could she tell me what phone number it came from, could she give me any information other than somebody change our service. She could not. All she could say is that we had to pay.

I was very upset at how angry she made me. Needless to say customer service is not there strong point. We are not going to pay for something we do not owe. My mother had been a sprint customer since at least 2000 and has always paid her bill on time and this is how the repay her. They made her buy at least one phone she didn't need and deal with a service that did not work in her area and told her it was her phone more lies.
