I've been writting poetry since I was a teenager and am indeed talented. I was given a clipping out of the paper for a poetry contest from my mother and entered this year.
I was took back, but very happy by the "computer generated letter" I recieved that stated my poem was going to be printed in the book Great Poems Of The Western World.
I should not of sent the money-GRRRRR.
Well I did I supposibly sent in humm, $85 that I really need for my car: (now, to have a small biography and picture published with my poem in this book. They "lost" my pic and biography and I haven't heard from them since then.
All of us have different situations, but no one relizes who I am. Belive me what they are doing is not lawful its not right. My writting is the ONLY thing that makes me feel alive sometimes. Because when I read it I know I can make it somehow, but these people make me feel like givening up. I almost need to completley regroup my thoughts now even thinking about this.
Anyway Yes I was invited to a convention with a $100 "scholorship". BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, if they really want to give you a trophey they'd pay your way there (maybe not hotels and other exspenses. I did not go I knew when I got that letter that something was funny, my belly got werd on me. So I went on the internet to search for their web address and underneath it I found a ripoff address I clicked it and ohhhh my gosh I just can't belive it. I mean some people lie, but HELLO FOLKS can we all be lying about the same company any person with sence would say no. I mean I dont know about you'll but I do have other ways I enjoy spending my lovely time than cramping my fingers up by something other than my work (poetry).
They are decietful.
They are misleading.
They give you run around.
They insult others intelligence.
They are not what a contest should be.
I can not speak for the convention because I did not go.
However the exsperince I have been through personaly is humilating and a blow to my confidence, deppressing, and I can not understand why these people can't just get their stuff together.
I have not recieved my anthology book yet, and they better hope that i do because I will go from upset to ticked off in secs.
All will work out for me as intended just like all of you others out there! I belive it.
Even so I will let you know by an update of my report if I get my book with all I payed for in it or not.
