I was told that a few classes that i paid for were being dropped for the course and not be used against our degree and will not be refunded for those classes. Almost every year since 2007 i have been told that i need a certain amount money to pay for classes, but will be called back into office i was presented with a higher amount needed. Every quarter the tuition went up almost 100 each quarter now at 518 per credit.
I was asked to apply for 12000 loan from my financial advisor at school through sallie mae to cover tuition expenses up in till graduation, when i went back to school for the following quarter i was told that 7000 was only giving to me but they couldnt explain what happen to the 5000. But i made a phone call to sallie mae and sallie mae told me the school had reduced my loan in december... But the school denies every touching my loan saying they dont have " access" to that.
But then told me that all i need is 3000 to make up for what sallie didnt "send" me. I recieved a pell grant for 3200 Tuesday April 10th to cover the 3000 that the school said that i owe but then i was told that they have to add tuition fees so the pelgrant isnt enough. Im still confused on if i only owe 3000 for 2 quarters and fasfa grant me 3200? Why isnt that enough? And i should be recieving back at least 200 right?
And when i asked the financial advisor what happen to the 5000 the first thing she said was " i didnt change it and the school didnt change it" but i never once accused her or the school so that was fishy to me why she got so defensive.
Off back they force you to either apply for another loan or pay the school with a 12% interest. And if that loan isnt paid by the time you graduate you dont receive your degree.
Ive been told plenty of times at that school if i dont pay this amount they threaten not to let you in class. They even give you a urgent hold paper basically stating you cant recieve you schedule unless you pay or work out some type of payment plan. Even though you have loans through sallie mae and request the amount they ask, they always come up with more ways in sucking money out your pockets.
I have had teachers request for the student to give them 20- 30 dollars for a field trip or to get supplies for the school. This school cost 1500 per class they still dont have enough money to buy paint and supplies? One quarter they didnt allow me to come to school cuz i was denied for a loan instead of working out a payment plan or helping me out they shut the door. Ive seen alot of kids drop out of this school, dream falling before there eyes cause the school is a rip off, full of greed with not even decent teacher.
To top it off, human resources has been fired, academic advisiors has been fired and some great teachers been laid off.
Even the president of the school walked out before it all became crashing down. I was told that the teachers dont get paid crap and dont receieve benefits, and this is from another teachers mouth.
Its my last year here and im already almost 200 K in the hole and honestly dont know how i got there. They mislead you with the price of tuition and they figured cause its a private school they can rack up the prices with out letting you know what your paying for.
