I enrolled in James Albert School of Cosmetology in Lake Forest, CA. They required $1,000 for the Esthetics Kit or you had the option to pay $500 and pay the additional $500 as you go through school. I paid with a $500 check that was cashed 2 days later.
For 4 weeks those of us that paid were told by the "administration" that the kits were ordered and on their way but we never received them. On that 4th week we were told that the school was closing and we had to transfer to another school.
Naturally, those of us that paid for our kits wanted our money back since we never received our kits. On Friday, February 3, I was issued a check in the amount of $500. When I went to the bank on Saturday, February 4, I was informed by the bank that there were non-sufficient funds in the account.
I am yet to receive my $500 that is owed to me by this poor excuse of a person.in this time of economic hardship, I don't have $500 to just throw around. All I wanted to do was attend school to further my education and have had to deal with this ongoing issue as well with no resolve.
I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. He still owes me and a few of my fellow students money and for him to write bad checks is absolutely unacceptable. Of course, nobody affiliated with his school or business returns phone calls or emails.
His school was a joke—no supplies, teachers working for free as well because he wasn't paying them either, there wasn't even any toilet paper or paper towels in the restrooms. Saddleback College outsourced their Cosmotology program to James Albert School of Cosmotology and refuses to help us get our money back.
Saddleback College is also a well known school and I am surprised at their level of unprofessionalism. How could they outsource an educational program to a School that went bankrupt 4 weeks after the sememter started? I guess they do not do any research on their end as far as who they do business with.
Another disappointment to add to the long list of ongoing issues with the California Education system. James Albert's Cosmetology licence and Business licence should be revoked for writing bad checks.
I hope nobody else makes the same mistake. I wouldn't recommend going to his Salon to get your hair done either. Who knows if he's even paying his employees there and why would you want to give your hard earned dollars to someone who swindles students out of their hard earned money that are trying to get an education.
