This is so alarming and annoying, exactly one month ago, I ordered a tablecloth from Domestications, online. Today there was a debit credit card charge of $9.95 on our account. We called them and they said it was a shopping discount membership. I've never joined one. We researched it online and found all of the bogus reports re HDI and Domestications.
After spending 30 minutes with Domestications they called HDI [their parent company] and said they'd reverse the charges. What a scam! I blasted them and said I was sending emails to everyone I have in my address book and that this is fraud to give out our credit card number etc.
He said he was sorry that the "Connections" membership is usually something they offer on phone orders and not online and their records show that I didn't accept any membership. He admitted that HDI is their parent company. I guessed that somehow the telemarketers are getting the credit card numbers and applying the memberships anyway. That is the innocent assumption, the less innocent one is that they think with such low charges, they will never get caught.
So I have to admit, no more shopping online with the debit card with any company. Domestications is well known, sends out a monthly catalog etc.
