Spartan College of Aeronautics
Beware! Beware!

OK, these guys encourage flight instructors to "encourage" you to fly until you're RED-X (out of money)."Oh come on, your getting it." There comes a time in everyones life when they deserve to hear the 'ditch digger' speech. I.E. Quit while you're ahead. And remember, if you don't complete 12 credit hours every semester, then you don't qualify for your financial aid. That's when they go for the sucker punch: Fly Fly Fly.

I spent over $60,000 in 24 months. I had a full time job, on financial aid, no rich parents. I only acquired my Private, that took 13 months. And over 100 hours. A little too long. Every 6 months, the President of the school would put out a 'notice of fuel' increase. The price per hour would go up 15-20 dollars an hour, depending on model. I wonder how much an hour for a C-152? 300-400 hundred by now.

Stage Checks: my favorite part. Once you come to an end of a stage, you are required to do a 'stage check' with another CFI. SO you might wait 2,3, 4 weeks to get on their schedule. And by the time you take the stage check, you've likely lost your edge. Plus they purposely fail people to get more money. I had a stage check with a CFI, no names, we we're working on Short Field Landings. As long as you hit the "numbers", you pass. He failed me 3 times, before I went to the Chief Flight Instructor, explained the problem, and his incompetencies. She explained the PTS (pilot test standards) to him, we flew again, and by God's grace, I passed. No refunds, no apologies.

The aircraft are dilapidated, the facilities are falling down, and yet they reel in "fresh recruits" every month. Take my advice. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL! I went as far as report them to state regulators, after a lengthy investigation, they said no wrong doing had occurred, I was just being vidictive. I even reported them to Senator Jim Inhofe. (He's a pilot, too) My complaint went nowhere.

SO if you don't want to wake up in 10 years, without the career you wanted, still paying on a $33,000 loan, don't waste your time at this dump.

Seriously, go to Oklahoma State just across the runway there on RVS. OR buy a cessna 152, find a flight instructor, get your private and beyond, and you'll be 1,000's of dollars ahead.
