This rip off report details my complaint of ITT-Tech of San Bernadino. I have read other complaints about this school on this web site and have decided that my experiences at my particular school are not unique.
First off I am currently a certified computer technician. I have been repairing computers for about 5 years now. I joined this school in order to reach to a higher education in computers and develop a successful career. I will not use anybody's name because people have a right to privacy even if they are not good people.
I have joined this school in September. Since being here I have had to explain basic computer technology to the class because the instructor was not able to do so. For an instructor to explain that "two caches are on the motherboard because that is just how they built it" is irresposible. I even had an instructor not know how to close a window on the computer during a presentation. No lie, we were told as a class to look for pictures of Janet Jackson's breast on the internet. This was for extra credit so that a dean may see it. He missed the SuperBowl. A family came by and saw it. How am I learning?
I have not learned anything. The courses go by so fast that we are taught to memorize stuff for our exams and forget why something works the way it does. Example: Today we were given the answers to the exams that we will be taking next week. EXAM ANSWERS!!! This week in math the teacher will be giving us the exam to study and we are to take notes. These notes we are told will be available to us during the exam. If your class is only three months long, and your total accumulation of learning is the final exam then why do we need the answers if we are actually learning.
I have talked to everyone in all of my classes. Nobody has learned anything. The teacher leaves the classroom numberous times for at least 15 minutes. During I inquired to my Visual Basic Class. "Has anyone learned anything throughout this whole course?" The answer is ubiquitous all we have learned to do is copy off the book, the teachers answers, and each other.
I have spoken with two associate deans about my experiences and I was told that it would all come to me as the program progressed. I explained exactly what was going on and I was told they would handle it. There has been no progress and I am paying way too much to wait for a response. I urge the Dept of Education to really investigate this school.
This Monday 2-23-04 I will resign my attendance here and get a second job to pay off my schooling. I will comtinue to teach myself about computer and go to a particular school that is reliable but does not offer a bachelor degree. I would rather know what I am doing than have a paper that claims I am something that I am not. I encourage others to go for their certs. Please reply with questions to this post. If you have the same problem start a new thread in order to increase the awareness of what is happening at this school.
