Last year, NMHU received a GRANT for a New SCIENCE/ENGINEERING BUilding. But the school "CLOSED" their ENGINEERING program to ALL NEW students, in fact, I have been told they have very FEW students remaining, last year WELL before MAY!
This seems to me like a "gross" misappropriation of funds that has become a well-established pattern at highlands!!!
In particular, the UNIVERSITY's DONNNELY LIBRARY. THe DIRECTOR, RUBEN ARAGON, has been having "AFFAIRS" with the FEMALE EMPLOYEES in his office over a possible 14 YEAR period!
ARAGON's secretary, BRENDA QUESADA, has only been employed with HIGHLANDS for 2 years. ANd when she was HIRED, she was absolutely NOT qualified to take on her duties.
BRENDA, in particular, has been spotted by myself and others cozying up to JANITORIAL staff, who weren't doing the CLEANING with which they were designated. As a result, LIbrary bathrooms were commonly dirty.
ONe VERY important thing we forgot to mention at HIGHLANDS, are several PEOPLE who have spoken 'ANONYMOUSLY' ADMIT they heard 'stories' of Misappropriation of Federal Funds on campus. These have INCLUDED 'OVERPAID' or WRONGLY paid salaries to employees and incorporating PERSONAL services and items into BUSINESS items. SOme employees themselves have even mentioned this.
THE REST of DONNELLY'S employees UNFORTUNATELY have been using their pubicly-FEDERALLY funded jobs as an EXCUSE to conduct "PERSONAL" activities.
As a RESULT, HIGHLANDS students have greatly suffered in that they DO NOT have access to ALL services to which they entitled at the library. MOST troubling are COMPUTER PRINTER RESOURCES which are SUPPOSED to be BOTH "FREE" to STUDENTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
Yet Employees in the REFERENCE area ALWAYS manage to take time out from their PERSONAL affairs to "WATCHDOG" students on their printing habits, often closing OFF ACCESS, claiming they don't have enough FUNDS for COMPUTER PAPER.
WELL, if they WEREN'T deterring these funds into PERSONAL BENEFITS, they would...
RUBEN ARAGON, in particular has been responsible for FEDERAL FUND abuses over a period of many years, which he has been continuing...
ANONYMOUSLY, it was reported to usby a library employee, that BRENDA QUESADA made hundreds of PERSONAL phone calls from her HIGHLANDS LIBRARY ADMINISTRATION office.
HIGHLANDS LIBRARY has been HIRING bunches of WORK-STUDY students (as MANY as 4 or 5 at a time) to work behind in the REFERENCE area. PROBLEM IS — they JUST sit BEHIND the desk and socialize. THis morning, we saw 4 of them COME out and CHECK their emails while they were BEING PAID ON LIBRARY TIME!
A fifth came out to talk to one of his friends at the PUBLIC/STUDENT computers and said he was receiving UNEMPLOYMENT, as WELL as working at the LIBRARY. I could be wrong, but I thought people working weren't supposed to be getting UNEMPLOYMENT? ALSO, he was then talking on his CELL PHONE, ALL DURING PAID LIBRARY GOVERNMENT-FUNDED WORK STUDY TIME.
There is ALSO the disturbing "culture" of STUDENTS being given the power to have PROFESSORS fired if they feel they are giving "TOO MUCH WORK" and/or they don't like what they are teaching, and OUTRIGHT PLAGERISM.
Rubin ARAGON, he has been reported to have had a lengthy affair with a woman by the NAME of JANIE BOSTOS, who was actually given a job at the library briefly (PERSONNEL RECORDS should reflect). ARAGON would see BOSTOS in his office and keep both STAFF members and community business appointments waiting for HOURS while he had sex with BOSTOS in his LOCKED office.
BOSTOS, a woman with very garish RED HAIR, can still be seen paying ARAGON an occassional visit.
Additional, ARAGON 'sees' BRENDA QUESADA which is why she gets AWAY with acting out all kinds of inappropriate behavior, including the VICIOUS ATTACK against STELLA TAPIA, which was also APPARENTLY covered for by PAUL SENA, so-called DIRECTOR of SECURITY, because he is the cousin of BRENDA's best friend on CAMPUS — CONNIE? (unsure of exact name).
ARAGON pays himself a SALARY of over a $100,000 a year— well equivalent to TOP UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS — for DOING 'ABSOLUTELY' NOTHING, except unfortunately, carrying on his ILLICIT affairs within the ADMINISTRATION OFFICE.in addition, he pays 'himself' $300 an hour PLUS expenses for an UNAFFLILIATED course he 'teaches'?? ('loose' term) at a High SCHOOL in ALBUQUERQUE.
ALL PARTIES involved seemed to have ABSOLUTELY NO FEAR OF BEING FOUND OUT or FACING RETRIBUTION, because they've all PROVEN 'time and TIME again' that they are 'ABOVE THE LAW!'
From an ACADEMIC perspective, locally, HIGHLANDS has a reputation for allowing students to 'BULLY' professors. That is — if they DON"T like what the PROFESSOR is trying to TEACH — or feel their teacher is "giving them TOO MUCH WORK" — they are ENCOURAGED to immediately report them to their supervisor who will either REPRIMAND or FIRE the teacher.
The other issue is what students get away withmany of the students who are on federal aid, use their surplus monies from school to buy beer and drugs. There is an extremely high incidence of drinking and 'illicit' drugs by students on campus! (particularly 'pot' and 'crack')
they are putting the few hardworking conscientious students like us at harms way and destroying the quality' of our education along with the employees who are stealing money, goofing off during paid time, having sex in administration offices, and making gross numbers of personal phone calls!!!
