There is definitely something bad going on with Substitute Teachers Unlimited. Ive been seeing several complaints from various cities and states regarding this company not paying the subs that work for them.
This is very much happening in Tucson, AZ. I have only been with them since February and had not had any major issues until this month. Currently they owe me 3 weeks worth of pay, Im sure that will turn into 4 weeks for the work I did this week.
When I first called about missing a paycheck a couple weeks ago and was told something about a system change waiting for everything to be in place so they didnt issue checks that couldnt be cashed Didnt really make a ton of sense to me but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. At that time I was told by Jim that he did not know the timing of resolving the issue but thought it would be soon.
Now a couple weeks later I still have not received any paychecks and the information is not forthcoming from STU. Jim no longer has any new information and directed me to call Drake Gates (the owner of Personnel Power and STU), only problem, the number he provided me with has no option to reach Gates. As a matter of fact any of the 3 options I chose redirected me to the same menu options over and over and I tried at all different times of the day and night. This seems very suspicious to me.
Im over it, not going to work for free and not going to let STU rip off AZ schools, teachers and tax payers. I plan on calling each and every school that I have worked with through STU and letting them know what is going. Obviously they dont know since STU is still calling me with jobs in Sunnyside and Catalina Foothills School Districts. I plan on contacting the District directly as well. Im sure they will be interested to know that the company they are paying is committing FRAUD with their dollars. I also plan to contact AZ Department of Education and the Better Business Bureau.
If I can find no resolution through these channels I also plan on contacting local media. I strongly recommend that any of you that have been working with STU in Tucson and are experiencing similar problems do the same. At the very least, let the schools that you have been working with know what is going on.
