On 8/18/03 a young man came to my door selling magazines so he could go on a trip to someplace and, I believe, get money to go to college. Unfortunately, at this late date I don't remember all the details of what he told me. His name is Doug Casey and I believe he said he was from Michigan.
I ordered the Prevention magazine for myself for $20.00 plus a $10.00 processing fee. As a result I was allowed to order a free one from a limited list. So I chose YM which would be sent to the home of a young niece, who is not living in the happiest of circumstances and whom I thought would benefit from a little added brightness in her life.
From what I've seen on this site I can't figure out if Doug is an innocent victim of this scam or not. He had a very pleasing personality, was a smooth talker, was well groomed and was pretty persuasive. He gave me a little note that he wanted me to post that said something to the effect of "Bug off, Doug already here."
I asked him for some info, perhaps it was the phone no. Of the Palmetto Marketing company and he said he had forgotten to bring it. Wish I could remember for sure what it was I wanted, but I think it was the phone no. I was a little suspicious when he said he didn't have this info with him, especially since he seemed so competent and on top of things.
