I responded to an ad in the paper - it didn't give much information at all. Fax your resume if you want to make a good income and run a store of a business/product that has been around for years. I was a stay-at-home mom for 3 years to our son that had a low immune system. So I decided to go ahead and fax my resume. What did I have to lose, right? WRONG! Dane Bates, the manager of the Lafayette, IN store called me and told me that his son has a low immune sytem and that he totally understood my situation. So my husband and I decided to meet with Dane. Boy, what a talker he is - honestly now I know I've never met anyone so full of bullshit in my entire life than him!
At the time, it all sounded good...

When Dane initially met with my husband and I he told us that there was a big market in my area which was Lebanon, Zionsville and Brownsburg. I asked for a printout of the current Electrolux customers so I could contact them. What he sent me had very few Lebanon, Zionsville, Brownsburg as it was mostly Frankfort and Thorntown. I sent out over 100 mailers letting the current customers know that there is a rep now in their area - no phone calls. I put out door hangers in nice Lebanon neighborhoods and I posted flyers everywhere and placed ads in two papers that went to Clinton & Boone counties - no phone calls. Big market we have here in Lebanon, huh? All of the postage, paper, etc., came from my pocket not his or Electrolux.
There was no store to run as promised in the ad, you work from your home and you spend your money to sell their product.

I also went with Dane one day to current customers/prospects homes after only 3 days of in-store training (if that is what you call it). Dane told me that he would have his wife set=up appointments and I would train "on the job". He showed up with no appointments made for the day and he also ended our training day early as his wife called and was having a problem with your neighbors - someone was drunk & having marriage problems or something! We didnt sell any sweepers and I had to pay a babysitter for that wasted day. Then Dane said said he again would have your wife set-up appointments for the following Saturday and we would do another day of training... Guess what? He called that morning and told me you had to cancel. I was there at the office every time Dane asked me to be there for training and then it got to be a joke with the appointment training.

I decided I was done with Dane Bates. I ended up selling 5 sweepers my first sale without my worthless manager. Not bad, huh? Let me know tell you where the rip off comes in at. I got my first paycheck. I grossed $1,400 = not bad, huh? Well, my check was only for $400. Electrolux charged me for training by Dane Bates - I never knew I was being charged. So I'm out babysitting money and now $200 for training. The people I sold sweepers too - traded in 4 old sweepers to get $800 off - I was told I could do this to make sales. I found out that the $800 comes out of my pay and Electrolux threw those sweepers away. I paid $800 for used sweepers that I didn't even get to keep. Lord knows if I knew I was going to pay for those sweepers I wouldn't of never let them trade them in. I didn't get proper training nor does ANY of my paperwork state these fees.

I also got a phone call from the Electrolux office stating that there was a customer in my area that needed bags and service.
Whoever took the message didnt even get all of the phone number. They got all but one number... Maybe Dane needs to be training people who work there to get a phone number and repeat it to make sure they wrote the number down right.

I have over 6 years of customer service and over 10 years of clerical experience plus I sell Tupperware so this wasnt all new to me. I know how to treat a customer and to keep them a continued customer. I felt confident working for Electrolux, as my family has always owned them and I knew they were a good product. I guarantee after this experience that I will not recommend these products now to anyone.
