On Sat. 6/14/03 I received my mastercard bill in the mail. I noticed 2 companys Mwi*homeworks and Mwi*simple escapes with telephone numbers for homeworks 877-844-1326 ct and simple escapes 800-896-8186 ct, with charges for homeworks 99.95 and simple escapes 139.95.
I asked my husband if he made these charges and he had no clue what they were or who they were. So I said I'm calling Monday to find out. I recently made purchases thru amazon.com so i figured i better go to the internet first to see if i reconized this company maybe i forgot that i did order something and just forgot the name, so i typed in mwihomeworks.com and starting reading about all these people who were ripped off by the same amounts as me and companies. So first i went back to last months bill and there was another charge with the name mwi*galleria 800-474-9172 ct amt 139.95.
I freaked out, so i immediately started dialing the 800 number and spoke with a rep named Jessica, she looked up my name and said how could she help me, then i said who are you people and where i'm i calling, she said you cash a $4.00 check we sent you for a membership for discount stores in your area and travel coupons. I said me or my husband have never cash or received any checks from your company and i want to know how you got my mastercard number, because if my account is not updated for $379.85 within the next few days I'm contacting a lawyer and the attorney general. She said she could only do one credit and i would have to call back and get another rep to update the others.
I'm fuming by now, immediately call the 877-844-1326 number spoke with Celya and she said she would update the other two transactions with both girls giving me their id#'s and this is there confirmation also. I then quickly called my mastercard holder chase manhatten and they ask me what they said and i told them about the check i supposely cashed, they said meaning chase they send advertisements in the mail with our bills every month and mwi is one of them, that maybe we did cash that $4.00 check. I told Chase i don't even read that garbage i just throw it out. But chase said they don't give out numbers, so i really don't know how this happen except thru shopping online, which i really think i won't be doing anymore.
After this experience i don't trust anyone. Chase also said they were putting a block on my account for mwi and any mailings with advertisments and phone calls, so this is a little hope, but i hope i don't have to hire a lawyer to get back my credit of 379.85.
