Artistic Beauty College
School offers subpar education and inept instructors

I began attending Artistic Beauty College in September. At the beginning the kits we received were subpar and did not contain the items that were promised to us and all of the supplies contained were very cheap and broke almost after the first use. We did not receive a flat iron, hot comb and many basic items used during instruction.

Upon registering for this school, I told the Career Planning Specialist that I would be taking some time off during the holidays to visit my family and that also my husband would be out of town for a few days, making it difficult for me to attend classes. Jamisha Russell told me, "The worst that will happen is we will move your graduation date back a few weeks." Upon accepting her word, I enrolled at this school.

From the beginning, the education I received was subpar. During the makeup application phase students were asked to draw pictures on paper and apply makeup to the "face" with crayon... And that was the makeup application course. Makeup was not provided in our kits, even though makeup application is a course being taught there.

Students are forced to do work under very unsanitary conditions, cleaning the bathrooms and mopping the reception, emptying the trash in the administrative area and cleaning the kitchen, with the excuse, "We are teaching you sanitation to prepare you for a salon." The bathrooms are never stocked with basic items, such as toilet paper or soap and are always dirty.

At Artistic Beauty College rules are made up on a daily basis as the instructor sees fit. On several occassions I have asked for a schedule as to when we would be tested and it was never provided to me. The instructor toward the end started giving tests/grades on a daily basis to force students to stay in her boring, misinformed class.

A few days ago, I was called into Stephanie Coppage's office and told that since I missed the color course during my vacation to visit my family that I would have to drop out of school and reenroll in September when the course was provided again. I was lied to in the beginning when I was told that my absence would not affect me. Stephanie Coppage is the new Director of Education for the Aurora campus.

Her treatment of me was very cold and she did not care that I would have to put my life on hold for 5 months because I was lied to by their staff. A friend of mine who is pregnant called and asked if it would affect her and she was given the two weeks excuse as well... So why would me being gone two weeks affect me, but someone out on maternity leave not be affect. Since their word is not good enough, I do not know what to believe!

I feel robbed by Artisitc Beauty College and want to find out any information whatsoever to help me recover some of the money that Artistic Beauty College feels owed to them for my "lack" of education there.

I would like to also notify the Colorado Board of Education regarding this.
