Alternative Teacher Certification in State of Texas online certification

First, you should know that it is hard to get teacher-certified in Texas. Texas prefers a 2 year degree in Education, followed by higher level classes. If you are already University-educated and desire to pass some of your knoweldge and expertise in an area to kids, then you are forced to be enrolled in a "qualified program" for a year before you can get certified. Content Exams for teachers are administered by the State, at State testing centers, and are not associated with any of the programs. Working in the school district for a year is mandatory, and all the observation and evaluation for that is provided by the School District. So the programs are basically charging $3,000-$4,000 to check your background, fingerprints, and transcripts. It's a great deal for the programs!

In November I sent in my $50 "application fee" and got copies of my transcripts and sent them to iTeach. A month later, I contacted them again, and they said there was a holdup because they needed some additional information from me. I went ahead and provided the information

The next two months I tried repeatedly to phone them and email them. I left numerous messages. I finally go in touch with a human in February. He said that they could not continue with my application until they recieved a "different kind of transcript" from the major Texas University I had attended. They refused to contact the University themselves and refused to refund my money.

Back in December, when I had spoken with them, they already had all my transcripts - why didn't they tell me about the "problem" until I finally got through to them in February?

I concluded that this organization was keeping my $50 and hoping to dangle the process out as long as possible.

I switched to eTools4Education. I had to re-order another set of transcripts from the University. I was accepted into their program within a week and they have already helped with study materials for the Texas Teachers Exam.

If you are looking to get Alternative Teacher Certification in Texas - stay away from iTeach Texas!!!
