Beware of Lamson College. They offer a surgical technologist program that they claim will take one year to complete. 10 months of classroom work and a 2 month "externship" in a local hospital. Once this is completed, you are told you will be ready to seek employment in the surg tech field.
Because of this "12 month" program bait, the cost of this program is $25,000.00 (Yes, twenty five thousand dollars), but as we were all told, we would be out in the field earning money after this great program.
Rumors began within the first 2-3 months of class. Externship positions were "backed up" and "some" were having to wait a "few" months before being able to complete this program. No one from the staff/admin would address concerns, basically saying not to worry about it, they were working on the problem.
This "problem" was never addressed internally obviously. There's a group of us who completed our classroom courses in June and have yet (it is mid-November now) to be placed in a local hospital... We have been out of the class room for 6 months now.
Parents budgets, student budgets and plans have all been put on hold while we wait for the school to find a hospital to place us. And, the school continues (!) to accept new students.
We don't know what to do, and know that we have been screwed, so this is a warning to anyone thinking of attending Lamson College (for anything!), run, do not walk to another College. All Lamson wants is your money, they don't give a crap about what happens after that. If you have just started, get out now. Cut your losses.
