I want to report the illegal and unethical behavior of Penn Foster School located in Pennsylvania providing distance education.
Over a year ago, Penn Foster stopped sending me the materials I needed to finish this course. I stopped making payments. The only agreement between Penn Foster and me was to pay as I go based on receiving materials so that I could study. I stopped receiving materials and therefore I stopped paying. I could not continue paying because I could not continue going in other words, I could not continue studying without the materials.
Out of the blue, I began receiving letters from a collection agency. I disregarded the messages because I knew for sure that I didn't owe that money. However, while in the process of acquiring a home, this debt appeared on my credit report. As you can imagine, it affects my future tremendously!
I do not understand why do I need to pay for something I have not received. I can understand incurring a debt IF I received materials, supplies or services rendered and I have not paid for them. But, how can I owe something I have never received? In addition, I have absolutely no access to the lessons online. So how can they even claim I have made use of their lousy services? They have denied access to them!
Penn Foster is illegally requesting a full balance payment for something they have not delivered. They turned my name to a collection agency and they, in turn, have turned me over to the credit reporting agencies.
