I had been substitute teaching for this school district from 2008 while attending college and grad school. Apparently, the human resources director has a one-sided approach when it comes to dealing with their subs—the other side is always right, and their subs don't even matter to them.
As a result of this so-called policy, I had been terminated and blacklisted over something that a couple of teachers said about me, as well as them saying that I was not interested in what was going on in the classroom, at a high schoool, a teacher was calling calling me a weak sub with no control, in which the opposite is true, considering the fact I had worked for them or four years. As well as if I were not interested, why would I even bother showing up to substitute teach to begin with. The specific teacher I am referring to (very contridictive and hypocritical, wouldn't you say) had even told me in person that she cannot control her students in this particular classroom. I know that substitute teaching is a challenging job but I am not blind enough to let them walk over me as the reports from this school had alleged about me. They don't have cameras in the classroom so how could she even prove, let alone allege, that I am a weak substitute teacher. She needs to take a look in the mirror herself.
Also at another school, this one an elementary school, my daughter who is on medication for ADD also attends this school (yes, the school has information that she takes this medication). I had accepted a substitute teaching job for a teacher across the hall. On this particular day, she was having a reaction to her medication and I had tried to call the school to get someone in the room until I arrive and had tried at least six times to get a hold of them and either the phone was busy or no one had answered the phone. And there is no voicemail box at the office, so there was no way for me to even leave a voice mail. As her reaction settled down, and still not being able to get a hold od the school On the way there, we had gotten stopped by a train and I had again tried to call with still no answer. When we arrived at the school, I was asked to go see this kindergarten teacher who did nothing but humiliated, yelled, and screamed at ME in front of students, other teachers, and parents to the point of verbal abuse., I had tried to tell the office as well as the kindergarten teacher (dont know what she even had to do with this) what had happened, but I was completely ignored and very little regard was taken to my daugher's addreall reaction. I immediately called the school district's central office and told them what is going on and they acted as if they did not care.
So i received a message on my cell phone from the school district saying I had been removed from the sub list, without explanation and I tried to call and email them and even went in person to talk to them, and they did not want to listen to me and brushed me off as if i did not even matter to them, which is very subhuman treatment, more like animal cruelty except I am not an animal.
When I went to file for unemployment they tried to fight it and four months later I have not been able to receive anything and I can't even pay bills nor could I even buy my daughter anything for her birthday. Come to find out that over the summer, they had outsourced their substitute teaching jobs to a temp agency and had blacklisted me from substitute teaching for them through them only to save money, which indicates that they are cheap.
In conclusion, Vigo County Schools do not care at all for the people who provide the substitute teaching services for them. Everything that I had been falsly accused of had been overlooked and had been dealt with the mentality from the middle ages. The teachers that are supposed to help you when you need them and vice versa help you first then backstab for their own gain. I have been absolutely sickened about the way how these people had treated me.
