My husband and I recently rented a few things from the rent-a-center listed above. Since we both work on the due date, we informed the manager that the payment would be mailed to the office. When we originally signed up they were located on Atlantic Blvd in Canton and moved to??? I think cromler blvd??? And we sent the payments to them to their atlantc Blvd location.
Had no problems with mailing payments and when one of us were off the payment would be dropped off to them in a timely manner. But since they moved they did not inform us of the moving address only it was up on 30th st NW Canton. With no other formal mailing address the payments continued to be mailed to atlantic blvd address.
Recently the office has decided to renig on the contract saying, "payments were not received".
The staff has continued to harrass my usband and myself both at home and at work. They have called both our home & cell phone number 7 days a week, night and day, as well as harrassing us both at home. We both work odd hours and sometimes it is next to impossible to contact office during operation hours.
And yet they refuse to drop a letter in the mail to inform us of the problem. We don't know why they renegged on the contract or if it was because payments were never recieved. Per the law, it is against the law to use illegal procedures in contacting a client such as harrassing phone calls at home & at work, harrassing us on the street without contacting us through registered mail or use appropriate procedures. What the staff of rent a center is doing is abusive, harrassing and totaslly illegal.
If some other creditor has a problem they contact us first by mail, once or twice in a given amount of time, then if a problem exists still they use a 3rd party negoitator. But never would they do the illegal procedures that the rent-a-center office has decided to do to both of us.
I have written to them with this month's [payment (atalantic blvd address) and informed them that if their illegal & abusive procedures don't stop (and that includes the harrassment) our family will report them to the BBB and take legal actiobn against them
