McIntosh College harrassment, giving up on dreams, ruin college caree

When I was first contacted by a representative from McIntosh College, I was ELATED! The admissions rep was so helpful and informative. He told me how selective the Culinary Arts program was, and I believed him. I assumed that since they had the LeCordon Bleu name attached, they had to be good. The Financial Aid rep walked me through every step of the financial aid process, and assured me that everything was in order and that I wouldn't have to worry about money for the entire program. She stressed that part, actually.

Well, in July of I packed up and left everything I had ever known, and traveled 2000 miles to Dover, New Hampshire. The first week was great. I just knew I had made the perfect choice in colleges. Sadly, I was mistaken.

The real trouble for me started when they hired a new Director of Student Housing. I was living in a student apartment off campus with 2 other students. We were told by the resident advisors that most of the dorm rules didn't apply to us, that we were in the apartments because we were more mature students. Once the new director, who my friends nick-named "Captain Not-So-Amazing" got there we started getting surprise late night visits. He, along with the male RA's were unlocking our apartment and coming in without knocking while we were sleeping! Since one of my roommates and I felt this was a major violation of privacy and safety, we tried to get something done about it. Within 3 weeks we were being kicked out of student housing on charges that were completely false and lacked the proper documentation. The director actually laughed in our faces about it.

We moved in with some friends who had an apartment in town. Then everything seemed to get worse. The registrars would "accidentally" drop me from classes, then make me re-take them. I was told that I wasn't going to be charged again for those classes, or for the re-take fee. That turned out to be a lie.

The Financial Aid department would schedule meetings during my class times, and when I would try to reschedule they would tell me I couldn't but the absence would be excused. I would go, then after waiting for up to 3 hours they would tell me that they didn't have a meeting with me. This happened nearly every two weeks. I found out in early February that I had to renew my financial aid package, which was supposed to cover my entire program length. I talked to quite a few people and they told me that the same thing happened to them. Financial Aid people would try to tell me that I must have "misunderstood" my rep. I know what I was told. I was lied to.

In mid-February I finally had to leave the school and move back home. I wasn't going to be able to complete the program under the LeCordon Bleu name. I was heart-broken. I felt like a failure.

I recently tried to enroll in a new college in my home state. They require that I have the official transcripts from McIntosh, and McIntosh refuses to release them to me or the other college. They say I have an outstanding balance of $8,230 with them. I had loans covering that. I should owe that money to the lender, not the school. I can't go to a new college now because I made the worst choice I possibly could have.
