Absurd overdraft charges, costly banking St Paul

I am a student trying to work hard, manage bills and tuition and banking was meant to be a means to help me organize and have reliable records to go by financially. Lately I have been getting into overdrafts and being assessed charges that do not make any sense whatsoever. I have been advised severally by the representatives to keep a personal record too keep track of my transactions to avoid the charges. I have done this but with the policy of posting charges in order of amount, there is no way my records will match theirs. It is not alkways easy to have more extra cash in the account but I try to have enough to cover my bills. This figures aren't exact but an example of how things have been going: I have $ 180 on day1, I make a purchase of $ 150 on day 2, immediately I spend another $5 on the same day same hour at the same merchant, then spend $42 on day 3. None of the transactions reflect (not yet posted they will say) on the account by the end of day 3 which in this case is Friday. I do however realise that I spend more than I have in my account, rush to the bank Sat morning, deposit enough funds to co actually cover the overdraft ifit occurs and the $ 37.50 charge that I know they will post. With that done, I expect to have some funds available by monday. Though it is not a business day, the figures online have changed, account bal vs avail balance reflect something else and the reciept from the atm machine shows that the funds are available. Come monday, I have two overdraft charges, exceeding what I had added into the account, I have the three charges in order of amount spent, which makes a big difference. Which means that the larger amts hit tthe account, caused a negative then the smaller amount shows up to simply enhance the overdraft.in the past two months, I have spent hundreds of dollars in overdrafts and I can say without a doubt that it is not fair. Even the representatives over the phone have a hard time trying to explain why this is happening. Is there anyone that can help put here? In the past two months I have paid an equivalent of my rent to Us bank in charges. They advised that I open a credit line for overdraft protection only to realise that it was the worst piece of advise I took up from them again. I simply ended up paying the charges twice. Any help?
