As with the other reports filed about this, I have also been scammed by what appears to be the same guy. I was standing on W. 57th street when he pulled up in a black SUV. It was a Chevy Blazer (late model) with Maryland plates. He asked me for directions to the Queens Borough Bridge.
He spoke in an italian accent. He was clean cut, had short black hair and was wearing designer jeans, shoes and a white, botton-down shirt. After telling him where to go, he told me the story of how he was flying home to Italy and worked in fashion. He said that his company had given him some jackets but he did not want to take them home since he would have to pay taxes on them and it was not worth it to him to travel home with them.
After showing 3 of them to me, (2 black leather ones and a brown suede coat) which were in clear plastic bags on hangers, and had all the tags on them, etc. He gave me the retail prices of them. $1100, $900 and like $700. I told him I was not really interested, that they were not my style, but he kept going on about what a great deal it was. He said he would sell me one for 300, and give me the other two as a "gift". I still said no. He then showed me his passport and his airline ticket, and he also had business cards with an italian address in Milan on them.
We finally negiotiated to $260, at which time we drove to my atm and I gave him the money.
He gave me the coats and we said goodbye. I did not realize that they were fake until I got back home and looked up this supposed "armani" R.G. A line and realized I was an idiot and had gotten scammed.
I hope that this helps anyone out there from becoming another victim of this guy, and if you happen to run into him call the police immediatley.
