I was subject of a well deviced scam. Today 10/09 while I was going to my car at the Home Depot in Northern Blvd, Queens, New york City, a stranger approached me from his vehicle a silver SUV, with florida plates. As he told me, he was going to be traveling back to his home country in Italy, that same afternoon. He introduced himself as an italian fashion designer, who had come to New York City to the Javitz Convention Center in order to launch the new line of Georgio Armani, exclusive leather jackets and sport jackets for ladies, that he called Collezioni A series. He gave me his business card written in italian, with address in Milano. He procceeded to tell me that he had several sample jackets left over from his show that he needed to liquidate prior to his return to italy, to avoid entry taxes that would amount to 35% of the value. According to him this jackets were of excellent quality and had a retail price at sacks 5th avenue of $1500.00
The gentlemen spoke eloquently in an italian accent (maybe fake now that I think of it) He sad he would make a very special deal, he would sell me 7 jackets for about $100 a piece. He assured me that this was a great deal and that the leather jackets would be an excellent asset. He stated that I would not regret the purchase.
According to the italian Thieve these jackets were the 2008 new designer line from Georgio Armani, which he quoted as "COLLEZIONI A". The jackets were folded in hangers inside brown plastic bags that read MADE IN ITALY.
To my dismay, when I came home an showed the merchandise to my wife, she immediately realized that I had been a victim of a well plotted scam. The jacquets have a fake label: REPORTAGE RGA NEW COLLECTION 2008 with an eagle shape in them.
My wife punch in the name in the labels in the internet and we discovered that I had been a victim of a well plotted scam, that encompassed a confident extroverted lier, fake business cards, a good story, fake plastic bags, fake jackets labels, fake jackets.
I admit I made a fool of myself, I lost $650.00 cash in this faulty transaction.
It called my attention though that this fellow used worned out brown shoes. I thought at the time, they did not fit with a fashion professional.
The thieve is tall, has brown hair, modern cut, a bit long, he was wearing a light brown blazer jacket and regular clothe trousers.in the internet appears the photograph of his partner in crime. I did not see his photo in the internet. I hope he is caught by the authorities. I understand he had run the same show in California LA, connecticut, and now in New York City.
