Trilegiant, Corp - TLG
Fraudulent Enrollment Practices

I've seen many reports concerning the deceptive, fraudulent and illegal "enrollment" methods practiced by the Trilegiant Corporation. I too was ripped off by this company to the tune of $1836. I too was "enrolled" in this company's service memberships, five of them, by signing and cashing checks that I assumed were "cash back rewards" from my Chase credit card. Now for the good news!!! I just received a call from the Iowa Attorney General's Office informing me that Trilegiant has agreed to refund every cent of the membership fees they had charged my credit card between Feb. 2005 and Dec. 2007. Some of you might be asking, "How did she do that?" Well, that's why I'm writing this... To give others the "weapons" needed to get the same results.

First, I want to thank usacomplaints.com for provided this website AND all their hard work gathering information for consumers like me. If I had not found this and the Consumer Affairs websites, I never would have proceeded with my complaint against Trilegiant. It was the detailed information given by the administrators of usacomplaints.com that led me to my success. There is, somewhere on this website, a report that gives a step-by-step process for filing a complaint and following it through to success. I won't go into such great detail but rather summarize what I learned from that report. As instructed by Consumer Affairs and RR.com, I started this process by calling Trilegiants's customer service department and filing a formal complaint. My contact person there was Leigh Ann Matthews. Next, I did some research on Trilegiant and uncovered the names, addresses and home phone numbers of almost every board member. This was going to be used as a threat, one that I was very prepared to carry out. Had I not received the results I wanted, I would have published this on every website I could, asking anyone who had been ripped off by Trilegiant to write or call each of these people, over and over again, until their complaints had been handled to their satisfaction. Next, I went to the Iowa Attorney General's Office website and filed a complaint there. I did the same with Connecticut's Attorney General's website. I have yet to hear from Connecticut but it took only a few days for Iowa to respond. They informed me that they had written a letter to Trilegiant, requesting all information pertinent to my complaint. Trilegiant complied and even though they wrote a convincing letter and provided copies of the endorsed checks and the "agreements" for the "memberships" I had signed up for, the Attorney General's Office informed me that I still had the right to a rebuttal. And, man, did I rebut!!! I provided copies of several articles written by Consumer Affairs and the media which stated that this company has had several lawsuits brought against them for fraudulent "enrollment" practices, in which they were ordered to repay millions of dollars to their customers. I told the Iowa AG office that it has been proven, in a court of law, that this company has and still is using ILLEGAL business practices and that, unless I received every cent back, I would start my own lawsuit. I think that's what did it! This company is finally getting tired of being taken to court over and over again.

So, even though it may sound like a lot of work, do whatever it takes to assure that this company makes things right with you. DON'T GIVE UP!!! Every time someone gives up, Trilegiant wins. Every wins gives this company more confidence that they can continue to rip people off and get away with it. Don't let them do it!!!
