On 3/14/08 I received a letter in the mail from this company informing me that "based on previous survey by our affiliate Consumer survey Specialist"..."You, are hereby selected to participate in a paid Consumer Research Program in your area of residence as a Mystery Shopper."
I came to complaint's site to find information about this company and I see that others have received similar letters; therefore, I felt obliged to report mine also.
My first indication that this was not legitimate were the many typos in the letter (incorrect grammar and sentence structure is a major pet peeve of mine - especially from so-called businesses or corporations).
My grammatically incorrect letter came with a check for $3,985.65 and an "assignment co-odinator [note the misspelling] SUSAN NORTON at 1-519-694-6146." This is a wireless number in London, Ontario, Canada. I called the number out of curiosity and got a voicemail. The letter also stated that I should "confirm the receipt of this check and fax all receipts and the Customer Service Evaluation Tool (CSET) form enclosed to 509-847-6436" which is a landline in Spokane, WA. The postmark was from Canada.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my concerns and hopefully help others from getting ripped off.
