I am so disgusted! I contacted US Tax Relief, in May. My tax debt was $11,000... I too was told the magic number to make my problems go away would only cost me $2200.00 and they would settle my taxes for as little as $70.00. I didn't pay the full $2200.00, but $550.00 as a down payment and would make monthly payments until the remaining $1650.00 was paid in full. I allowed them to debit one payment off of my prepaid debit card as I was not comfortable giving them my real bank account info. The payment processed, I called to follow up and continue my payments.
Thank GOD I didn't!!! I too was advised that RICHARD HARGUS was the best tax advisor for "MY" situation! I called Richard about 15 or 20 times and spoke to him maybe 5 times, each time he assured me everything was going well, and he should have an answer of my settlement info soon. He also requested I fax information over to him to ensure I had all of my tax documentations was included in the process. I did, after calling him months and months I was given the same answers by Richard, allow a few more weeks, I received a call from Michael Gill requesting more money, I guess my gut instinct kick in at that point.
Then a few months passed and Allison Quinn called to inquire about the remaining balance. I advised I would get back to her. I'm outraged that I called today 03/13/08, to find out the status of my taxes, and get the message that they have filed bankruptcy! I'm glad I did not finish making those payments. Does anyone know when they filed bankruptcy? I will be contacting the Attorney General Office, and filing a lawsuit for my money back! I will now find a local tax attorney or speak to the IRS myself..
I'm a firm believer that "what goes around comes around - bad karma is coming to everyone that had a part of this scam! Good luck to all of you...
