In October I received a call from Joseph Steven and Associates asking to handle my collection accounts. Like everyone I fell for there fast talking about how great at what they do and how fast they will recover past debt that was owed to me.
After not hearing from them I got curious of what was going on with the one dead beat customer I had, and if any money was collected yet. Finally " Joseph Steven and Associates got back to me and stated that in order to get my money and put a freeze on my dead beat costumers bank accounts we had to get an attorney involved which consisted of giving them a $2500. As a retainer for the attorney fee's, yes I fell for it!
After getting my credit card statement I didn't realize they took out $2800. Without my permission until months later because I personally do not handle my mail, the office does all the paperwork.
Months would go by before they would get back to me, and even then they would give me a run around on the progress of my case.
Now it is a year later I finnally got in contact with the lawyer they had so called hired with my money. I found out that since they stalled me for so long the companey I was trying to go after is now no longer in business. It gets worse when I was talking to the attorney in disbelieve he mentioned that he had faxed this all to Joseph Steven and Associates about 2 months ago and is also mad because he only gets paid if I get paid! SO WHERE DID MY MONEY GO!
I called Joseph Steven and Associates immediately, spoke to the "Supervisor" Heather Green and explained I was not happy and wanted my $2800. Back for services that they did not render. Her attitude changed instantly, the next words out of her mouth was that I had to do all further communication by fax because I was being verbally abusive and she was going to note that in the computer so none of the following employees would give me any further information or tell me what was going on. This company is nothing but LIES!
By all the other letters I read from "complaint" it seams like the company that is supposed to help you "Joseph Steven and Associates" actually screws you worse than the guy you hired them for.
