Canceled magazine order, check altered, then bank draft taken

A young kid came around selling magazines in our neighborhood. He sold an overpriced magazine to my daughter. I called the company and told them that I did not want the magazine and would like to cancel the subscription. I then stopped payment on the check.

Several months later I got a bank draft out of my account that I know nothing about. I called my bank and asked who they drafted money to. They told me Great Plains Circulation. I looked at the check I had stopped payment on, and they had changed the check number and the amount of the check and then electronically drafted more money.

I called them up and asked for the money back. They said they did not have to and that they turned me over to collections for nonpayment.

Now I have to fill out a bunch of fraud paperwork at my bank and change account numbers.

Please do not do business with this company.
