BEWARE Of United American Insurance. Take it from a former Manager. Read the fine print!

Attention all, beware of United American Insurance. The insurance is a full blown policy, but it doesn't cover the way agents market it. It is NOT Major Medical. The home office trains new agents to sugar coat the policies just to make sales. All the home office cares about is their money. The do not care about the customers or the agents. As long as home office is making money, they are happy.

I'm sure you are skeptical because you see this type of stuff all the time from disgruntled employess. Well I was a manager for this company, and where better to get the right info than from an inside source. I was hired in December. Home office made a mistake and did not send in my application to the state until the first week in January. They had lost some of my paperwork as well. That should have swayed me, but it didn't. So, intead of taking 2 weeks to get a license like I was promised, it took 6 weeks due to home office losing the paperwork. The office I was hired by had copies and proof that the correct paperwork was sent in correctly. This was a home office mistake. It was corrected, and I got licensed.

The next thing I was told is there is very little COLD CALLING. I was new to sales, and didn't know much at this point. I was promised many lead sources that the office would pay for. Needless to say we were provided with few leads. I had to do all of my own cold calling. I had no help at all with this.in addition, I was expected to use my own personal cell phone to do the cold calling, which was never mentioned during the hire process. Anyhow, I pushed through, and did as I was asked.

During training, agents were taught to basically snowball a prospect to make a sale. Take the Flex Plus product offered. READ THE FINE PRINT!!! These policies have daily limits. The most it pays out for the Flex 50 is $2000 per DAY! The FLex 75 pays up to $3000 per day, and the Flex 100 pays $4000 per day. That is it. If you have a day surgery, and it runs $15000, and you are on these plans, guess who pays the excess? I had this happen to a client of mine. The company refused to pay for the blood work. They would not cover the X-rays either. The bill for 2 days in the hospital was over $48,000. Well, according to the policy, it pays up to $50,000 alone for miscellaneous. NOPE, that's incorrect. It pays $2000 per day, so the policy paid $4000, and the customer was left holding the bag for the other $44,000. Neat way to market a product huh? Also, Flex offers help with doctor's visits. It will pay $50 MAX for any doctor's visit. If the visit is $200, they still only pay $50. Not much help there. They offer no precription program, and offer no Doctor co-pays at all. Wierd for a company with such high ratings not to offer these benefits. Also, the policies state they will pay up to $7500 or $10,000 for surgeons fees. What they do not tell you is that they will only pay the max amount in your schedule of benefits in your policy. READ YOUR POLICY!!! If the surgeon charges more, then guesss who pays the excess?

What the company doesn't advertise is that their ratings come from their Medicare Supplements. Unfortunately, United American Insurance is the MOST EXPENSIVE company for Medicare Supps. There is no reason for this either. They offer the same benefits as other plans, Just beware of Advantage plans though. Those are a whole other ripoff.

I was a manager, and I was being having a few issues. I had an agent that I did a lot of hard work for. Unfortunately home office messed up once again, and put the agent under a Unit Manager that did not even work there anymore. Home office is in Mckinney, and I work in the Dallas area for them. Can you believe it took them 6 weeks to straighten this out? I work an hour from home office, and it honestly took that long? I didn't get paid for a month and a half, and I still stuck it out and was a team player even though bills were piling up. I then find out I'm up for promotion to get a branch. I was excited. I was told to clear up a few things on my credit, so I did. I kept getting put off for my interview with home office though. Then I find out the company decided to bring a manager in from out of state to take the branch. Wow, I was amazed at how poorly they treat their managers and agents. I had put up with alot, but this broke the camels back. Why is it they couldn't tell me this in the first place?

I am in no way trying to bash the company, but if that's how they treat their managers and agents, how well do they treat clients? Can you afford for them to not live up to their promises? This is all info for you to think about. I have since left the company, and I work for a great company now. If this company is so great, how did our office go from 30 agents down to 6 licensed agents in just a couple of months? My biggest suggestion is, READ THE FINE PRINT!!! Do not buy a policy without researching it fully before hand. All the company cares about is making money. Make sure you're making the right decision.

Read the fine print, and read the policy closely!!!
